This is an antique Victorian era Egg shaped silver locket. It is stamped 925 silver on the inside of the locket which can be seen in the photos.
This locket is an absolutely gorgeous reclaimed vintage piece with no scratches or damage, a rare find indeed. Lockets have always been intriguing, I find this one particularly so because of the large cavity. It is not a classic picture locket but perhaps one to hold treasures or hide objects. At a first glance it is not obvious that it is a locket as the hinge is low profile.
In our modern day and age I would say it could be used to hold pills/medications, children’s teeth, tiny gemstones, or whatever you fancy.
Silver provides a strong connection between physical and astral bodies. It is known to enhance the energies of the moon and offer protective and intuitive powers. It will also absorb the energies of the stones it is placed with and amplify them.
